Admission Procedure

Admission to the one year B.Ed programme is open to all those who have a basic graduate degree irrespective of caste, religion, language or gender. The selection will be in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the NCTE, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Jiwaji University, Gwalior.

The selection will be based on the B.Ed. entrance exam conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board.

Brief description about the courses.  

B.Ed. (2 years course)

The Bachelor of Education programme, generally known as B.Ed. is a professional course that prepares teacher for upper primary or middle level (classes VI to VIII), secondary level (IX – X) and senior secondary level (classes XI –XII )According to the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) it is mandatory for all teachers to have a B.Ed. .  Students must graduate in order to be eligible for the B.Ed.

Duration

The B.Ed. programme shall be of duration of two academic years, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme.

Eligibility

• Candidates with at least fifty percent either in the Bachelor’s degree at least and / or in the Master’s Degree in Science / Social Sciences/Humanity, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.
• The reservation and relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government /State Government, whichever is applicable.

FEES

The institution shall charge only such fees as prescribed by the affiliating body /state government concerned in accordance with provision of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

B.A.B.Ed. (Four years integrated course)

The four year integrated programme aims at integrating general studies it comprising foundation of education, Pedagogy of school subjects and practicum related to the task and function of a school teacher. It is the programme, representing a wide knowledge base of a secondary school teacher. The programme aims at preparing teachers for Upper primary and secondary stage of education.

Duration

The B.A.B.Ed. Programme shall be of four academic years or eight semesters including school based experience and internship in teaching. Student teachers shall, however, be permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of six years from the date of admission to the programme.

Eligibility criteria

• Candidate with at least 50% marks in the senior secondary /+2 or its equivalent are eligible for admission.
• The reservation and relaxation in marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other category shall be as per the rule of the Central Government / State Government whichever is applicable.

D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education)  

D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) is a two year professional programme of teacher education. It aims to prepare teachers for the elementary stage of education i.e. classes I to VIII. The aim of elementary education is to fulfill the basic learning needs of all children in an inclusive school environment bridging social and gender gaps with the active participation of the community.

Duration

The D.El.Ed. Programme shall be of duration of two academic years.

Eligibility criteria

• Candidates should pass 12th in any stream from a recognized board with 50% (45% for reserved candidates) minimum marks will be able to apply for D.El.Ed.
